FH Cambodia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), conducted a five‑day Training of Trainers (ToT) on the Let’s Learn to Read (LLR) program, aligned with the national Early Grade Reading Package. The training focused on the five core components of early grade reading and pedagogical mentoring, with the aim of strengthening support for early grade teachers.
The objectives of the training were to:
✅ Build a shared understanding of the LLR program, including its rationale, training structure, implementation approach, and contextualization within the Cambodian education context
✅ Strengthen the knowledge and skills of specialized pedagogical mentors on the content and mechanisms of pedagogical mentoring, enabling them to continue supporting School‑Based Mentors
✅ Support teachers in effectively implementing early grade reading and mathematics packages in schools, thereby strengthening foundational skills so that all early grade students can read, write, and develop basic numeracy skills
A total of 42 participants attended the five‑day training, including:
✅ Four national‑level participants, comprising technical officials from MoEYS responsible for early grade reading and pedagogical mentoring, and FH Cambodia technical staff, who served as trainers and facilitators
✅ Thirty‑three specialized pedagogical mentors and early grade reading officials from Siem Reap and Oddar Meanchey provinces, who participated as trainees
✅ Five FH Cambodia’s staff from Puok District (Siem Reap Province) and Trapeang Prasat, Chong Kal, and Banteay Ampil districts (Oddar Meanchey Province)
Following the completion of this ToT, the trained specialized pedagogical mentors will cascade the training to School‑Based Mentors and Early Grade Teachers in FH Cambodia’s target areas. This cascading approach will strengthen classroom‑level support, improve teaching practices, and contribute to better learning outcomes for children in the early grades.
