Our Physical and Mental Wellbeing Project in Trapang Prasat District, in collaboration with health center staff and village and commune authorities, organized a celebration of World Breastfeeding Week (WBW).
A total of 76 participants attended the event, including 53 women, from two communes: Ph’av Commune and Ou Svay Commune.
The objectives of this campaign are to:
1. Increase awareness and promote the importance of breastfeeding and nutrition for mothers and children, with the participation and support of families and communities.
2. Promote exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of a child’s life and encourage continued breastfeeding up to two years of age or beyond.
3. Encourage families and communities to provide a supportive environment for breastfeeding mothers.
4. Strengthen the involvement of all relevant stakeholders, including health professionals, local authorities, volunteers, and development partners, in promoting and supporting effective breastfeeding practices.
Mrs. Rin Hon, 38 years old, lives in Popel Village. She shared:
“As a mother of four children, I exclusively breastfed all four of my children. My children are healthy and intelligent. I have also contributed to supporting my community and raising awareness among women about the importance of breastfeeding, as it is the essential foundation for a strong start in life and good health for infants from 0-6 months of age.”
