Mrs. Phoeun Sokha is a 40-year-old. She is a Deputy Director of the Office of Education, Youth, and Sports of Svay Leu District. She said, I have known FH Cambodia since 2024. Before FH Cambodia began implementing the project, my district had a mix of official and contractual teachers, many of whom had not attended capacity-building training for teachers. Additionally, they had limited ability to create teaching and learning materials. At the same time, the school principal or the school committee was inaccessible to build capacity. On the other hand, the children had access to school around 60%, and learning out achieved about 60% as well.
During FH’s implementation of their project in 2025, the community preschool teachers, early grade teachers, school directors, and school committee received a variety of training. For instance, community preschool and primary school teachers got training on teaching pre-literacy and numeracy methodology, as well as creating teaching and learning materials techniques. The school principal got training on School-Based Management (SBM) and the school development planning process.
After acquiring the training from the FH project, the school leaders and teachers applied new strategies effectively. The children who are school-age had access to education; 97% reflected that in 2014, it was about 60%. The teaching and children’s learning outcome increased a remarkable 80% past the academic year, reflecting that by 2014, 60% could pass to the new academic year.” She gladly said, “My vision is to strengthen the internal structure of the District Office of Education (DoE). Build strong collaboration with NGOs, the community, and the authority to improve the quality of education in Svay Leu district through an alliance with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) policy.
