Sponsored Child’s Story Spotlight: Growing into a Leader
I joined FH Cambodia as a child partner in 2020 when the organization began implementing development activities in my village. At that time, I was a shy girl with little confidence and rarely participated in community activities. I did not think much about my future and had limited knowledge of personal hygiene and leadership.
Through participating in FH Cambodia’s activities, I decided to transform myself. I became actively involved in the children’s club, worked harder in my studies, gained confidence, and learned how to contribute to my community. Through my hard work and commitment, I was selected as a Volunteer Teacher and Youth Representative, supporting and sharing knowledge with younger children.
Today, I teach at the children’s club, participate in community activities, promote hygiene and environmental cleanliness, and encourage other children to learn and get involved. I am no longer afraid to ask questions, share my ideas, or take on new responsibilities. These experiences have helped me become a confident, responsible, and capable young leader. My dream is to continue my studies in law and become a police officer so that I can protect and serve my community. I also hope to see my village become cleaner, healthier, and more prosperous, where every child and young person has the opportunity to learn and achieve their dreams.
FH Cambodia gave me opportunities to learn and grow, but I chose to use those opportunities to transform myself. The knowledge, skills, and confidence I have gained are helping me build a better future for myself, my family, and my community, said Ms. Sayorn.
