Smart Start is a program designed to raise awareness among caregivers of children aged 0–5 on effective parenting practices through everyday activities. In Trapeang Prasat, Puok, and Banteay Ampil district Area Programs, FH Cambodia is training community volunteers to strengthen their understanding of early childhood development and coordination approaches. This enables early childhood caregivers to gain practical knowledge, skills, and positive experiences in responsive parenting.
The Smart Start program supports the implementation of national early childhood policies through community volunteer outreach in each target village, in collaboration with local authorities, members of the Commune Committee for Women and Children, and other community stakeholders.
The program aims to:
Provide caregivers with knowledge, skills, and positive experiences in raising children aged 0–5.
Promote effective methods for nurturing and caring for young children through daily routines.
Encourage the use of simple, locally available materials to support children’s play and learning.
Strengthen family involvement in supporting early childhood play activities.
Equip caregivers with practical insights, activities, and guidance on understanding young children’s needs and responding to them positively.
