Mr. Tith John, 47, once struggled to provide for his family due to low income, food insecurity, and debt. His dream of seeing his children graduate and succeed felt out of reach—until he engaged with FH Cambodia. With his child enrolled in the program, his wife became a Hope Group Volunteer for Health, and he himself became a Community Partner Volunteer and Village Animal Health Worker (VAHW).
Through FH Cambodia, he received training in animal health, financial literacy, smart agriculture, water management, and behavior change facilitation. His family joined a savings group, learned to manage debt, and began practicing climate-smart farming. Today, he earns 50,000–100,000 riels/day (~$12.50–$25) from selling vegetables, supports his children’s education, and saves consistently.
Empowered to RISE
“FH Cambodia didn’t just teach me skills—they gave me back my HOPE. Now I earn a steady income, support my family, and share my knowledge to help others RISE too. I’m not just building a future for my children—I’m helping build a stronger, self-reliant community.” — Mr. Tith John | Community Partner Volunteer
Community Partnership
FH Cambodia’s Food Security and Livelihood Project has trained key lead farmers and other Hope Group Volunteer for Agriculture (HGV-As) on climate-smart agriculture, diversified cropping, animal husbandry, and land management, in partnership with the Provincial Department of Agriculture and District Offices. These efforts aim to enhance community resilience, increase production quality, and improve household incomes.
To date, the project has provided ongoing support and materials to poor and vulnerable households, building a strong network of key lead farmers and volunteers. These trained individuals now act as Behavior Change Agents (BCA)—multipliers of knowledge and experiences within their communities.
Looking Forward
Future community engagement plans include continuing collaborations with local authorities and partners through planning meetings, exposure visits, and peer learning. The project will focus on expanding technical training and equipping key lead farmers to other HGV-As, reducing household food insecurity, limiting migration, and supporting children’s access to education.
