Mrs. Chann Sari, 44 years old Hope Group Volunteer for Agriculture (HGV-A), with ID poor implementing drip irrigation system in Bet Phkar Village. She lives in a big family with 10 members. She said,
“Previously, my family lived in poor condition and could not support ourselves on daily food. My family members and I went to find wild vegetables in the Kulen mountain, such as bamboo and so on. My whole family could find only $2.5 per day, and it was difficult to support the family. During difficult situations, FH selected me as an Hope Group Volunteer for Agriculture (HGV-A) and supported training on agriculture techniques. It includes drip irrigation system lessons; after training, FH supported vegetable seeds and agricultural equipment.
Nowadays, I plant vegetables such as spinach, long beans, Chinese curly cabbage, gourd, lemongrass, chilies, and garlic leaves. I can collect a vegetable yield of $150 per month and support household consumption as well. The vegetable yield can support my nephew in continuing at university in Siem Reap province.
In the future, I will extend the agriculture farm and plant such things as cucumbers, eggplants, winter melons, lettuce, asparagus, and morning glory and dig a pond. Finally, I would like to give many thanks to FH Cambodia for supporting and improving my family as well.”
